The in vivo UVA Protection Factor (directly measured on skin) is determined by one of these two standardized and reproducible methods:

  • ISO 24442:2011 Cosmetics – Sun protection test methods
  • In vivo determination of sunscreen UVA protection
  • JCIA (Japan)
  • Claims (depending on the monograph)

“UVA Protection Factor”

Necessary to confirm a “UVA : UVB Ratio” higher than 1:3

Some logos, such as the Canadian Dermatology Association (CDA), the Skin Cancer Foundation, the European Commission or “UVA” logo, can also be used as long as all the requirements associated with these logos are satisfied.
