In vitro Tests

Our in vitro tests (without irradiation of the skin) are performed according to methods detailed below.
Solar simulators and radiometers used are calibrated according to international guidelines.

Critical Wavelength requirement to claim “Broad Spectrum SPF (X)”

  • Food and Drug Administration (USA) – FDA 2011 21 CFR 352
  • Health Canada (Canada) – Monograph on Sunscreens Version 2.0
  • Colipa / Cosmetics Europe Association (EU) – International Sun Protection Factor Test Method (2011)
  • Claims (depending on the monograph) for products with a critical wavelength ≥ 370 nm
